ArtCraft Optical

ArtCraft Optical was founded in 1918 in Rochester NY by a man named Charles J Eagle. It is still in the business of manufacturing eyeglass frames making it one of the oldest manufacturers of Vintage Eyewear still in in the eyeglass frames manufacturing business today.

ArtCraft has manufactured tens of millions of vintage eyeglass frames,starting with pince nez frames and their version of windsor eyeglass frames called “Artshell” eyeglasses, and on with antique Marshwood and p3 style eyeglasses, beautiful gold and silver frames from the 1920’s to the 1940’s with intricate designs, often etched by hand, and on to 1950’s and 1960’s cat eye glasses where they had a major focus on aluminum frames, often with a 1/10 12k gold filled chasis.

Some of their famous 1960’s eyeglass frames include the Artcraft Holiday cat eye frames, as well as the Clubman Art-rim, their version of the Ray Ban Clubmaster, and the lady Art-Rim Version for Women.

Artcraft has supplied many vintage eyeglass frames to the US military throughout the years WWI, WWII, and all the other conflicts up until today.

Artcraft is unique from manufacters of antique eyeglasses in that they are still in the same line of business today. This is likely due to their pride in their workforce and the American made quality of their vintage eyewear, refusing to compromise on materials or to outsource or sell out to the eyewear comglamortes of the world.
