Plastic Vintage Glasses

One of the more common materials used for vintage eyeglasses was plastic. Plastic vintage glasses made up the majority of vintage frames starting from the 1950s and 1960s and onward.

However, if we dig deeper we can trace plastic vintage glasses back to the early 20th century, and even, perhaps, to 19th century eyeglasses as well.

Windsor Eyeglasses from the late 19th and early 20th century were often coated with zylonite a type of plastic. Even firther back in the 19th centiry we see the use of various forms of plastic in the manufcture of pince nez. Thus plastic vintage eye glasses can be said to date to early nineteenth century eyeglasses.
