Schiaparelli
One of the most unique brands of Vintage Frames are Schiaparelli Glasses. They were designed by Elsa Schiaparelli, one of the most influential fashion designers of her time.
Born in Rome in 1890, she moved to Paris in 1927 to establish her fashion house, designing Clothing, Costume Jewelry and accessories. In 1952 American Optical signed a contract with Elsa Schiaparelli creating the first ever Schiaparelli eyewear collection, some of the most flamboyant and luxurious (and pricey) vintage glasses ever made.

Each pair of the close to 100 vintage eyeglasses or sunglasses in the Schiaparelli collection had a bold and inspiring name. Fireworks, Woman of the World etc, Bringing high end couture not only to the product but to the name as well. Many of these 1950s glasses were made of solid gold and embellished with real pearls and other semi precious stone.

Schiaparelli eyeglass frames still serve as an inspiration to many eyeglasses designers until today. Her unique and bold designs, creativity and fearlessness serve as an inspiration for designers until today.
