Horn Rimmed Glasses

Horn Rimmed Glasses are a type of thick vintage eyeglass frames made of horn, tortoiseshell or dark thick plastic. Named after the original material used which was horn or shell, the definition of horn rimmed glasses has become more flexible, commonly referring to as a pair of dark, thick, plastic eyeglasses. Horned Rim Glasses are sometimes referred to as Nerd or rockabilly style, as well as retro glasses. Though Horn-rimmed glasses have been around for many years before, they were made popular in the 1950's when musician Buddy Holly started wearing this style. they remained popular until the 1970's when people started preferring the Aviator look. In the past decade horn rim glasses frames have had a resurgence of popularity. Woody Allen wears a pair of Horn rimmed glasses in almost every one of his movies, and of late Johnny Depp has been seen wearing a similar style.
