Windsor Eyeglasses

Windsor eyeglasses were introduced in 1880 and remained popular thru the early 1900's. Windsor glasses have completely round lenses and temples that wrap around the ears. The nose pads hadn't yet been invented so they have what's called a saddle bridge. Windsor glasses were generally gold and silver colored, often covered with black or tortoise celluloid on the bridge, eye wires, or temples. These round vintage glasses are historically associated with John Lennon as well as Mahatma Gandhi, wearing them in many of their famous photos. Like many types of vintage eyeglasses, windsor glasses fell out of favor with the advent of the nose pads. and haven't been manufactured since. In modern times windsor eyeglasses are highly sought after and very desirable, will make a great addition to your collection.
