Vintage Eyeglasses have been made in many shapes, colors, and styles across the years, as the tides of fashion change, and manufacturing techniques evolve. Antique eyeglasses do not look like those sold today, and the further back in time you go, the more distinct vintage frames look from contemporary designs.

1880s to 1920s Frames

Many new styles of vintage glasses started appearing around the 1880's. These include pince nez, windsor glasses cable temple wire rim glasses and rimless saddle bridge glasses.

 

1920s to 1940s Glasses

With the invention of the modern nose pad in the 1920's a lot of change was introduced to the world of vintage glasses. Some of the more popular styles of 1920s frames were Numont glasses, Marshwood P3 Glasses, as well as other vintage round glasses. Distinction between Men's vintage glasses and Womens Vintage Glasses became clearer as well.

 

1950s and 1960s  

With the introduction of plastic as a material commonly used for manufacturing, the opportunities for vintage eyewear were endless. No longer confined to gold and silver wire rim, vintage glasses took off in all colors and shapes possible. Some of the more popular styles were cat eye glasses, browline glasses, and horn rimmed glasses.

 

Retro Glasses

Vintage eyeglasses display craftsmanship that is unknown in our age of cheap, disposable, mass produced eyeglasses. Retro glasses open up many exciting opportunities.
